Visual and Performing Arts Diversity Project
Art Consumption: Through out the unit, students will be viewing various pieces of art create by different medias about diversity and analyzing it through a method called "Notice & Wonder". As a warm up to class, students are shown a piece of art (pictured below) and asked to write down things they notice and things they wonder about it. These thoughts are shared as a class and expounded on to generate deeper thinking.

Art Production: At the end of the unit, after students have collected and analyzed student demographic data, students will be creating an art piece that reflects the outcomes of their experiment. Students will need to take a stance on diversity based on the data they have collected and analyzed, and express it through a production of art. The type of art piece they choose to create is up to the student to decide what form of media will be appropriate for the message they want to send. Students will decide on a social need based on this data that will be shown to administration. The next part of the unit will involve a community outreach service plan.
